“The road to success is always under construction” Lily Tomlin
And to be successful a company cannot build and develop they way they did in 1980’s. Like Moore’s law, the speed of technical integration with construction processes is rapidly accelerating.
The amalgamation of construction and technology has been changing the playing field for over a quarter of a century. In fact those that had the vision and foresight to exploit the value of technology early, gained significant competitive advantage (and those that lagged behind lost contracts and money as computer aided designed moved rapidly from a “nice to have” to a “you don’t qualify” to be considered for the job without it). Without exploiting technology effectively and intelligently you lost - you lost time, you lost money, you lost partners and you lost clients.
Today Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), and Building Information Modeling (BIM) provide the leading competitive advantage that will rapidly become tomorrow’s industry standard. Just as CAD created high profit margins for organizations who properly adopted the technology in the mid eighties, these technologies will provide significantly higher profits.
However, the successful implementation and execution of VDC/IPD/BIM is complicated and like any new tool, if managed inappropriately can be costly. A battery operated screw gun can do more damage then good in the hands of an untrained and unskilled professional. Software applications and implementation are tools which require responsible leadership.
Very experienced and qualified technology executives recall that most companies implementing CAD technologies lost months even years of production before getting systems properly working in a productive manner, simply because they had the wrong people doing the wrong things. In implementing Virtual Design and Construction, Integrated Project Management, and Building Information Modeling applications, failure or success will be dictated by the quality of the professional you have handling the most important internal task your company has undertaken in decades.
Over these transformative 25 years I have had the unique privilege of blending the technology and construction worlds as both a registered licensed General Contractor and a highly sought after systems integrator and CAD executive.
Whether building a computer system or retrofitting the VA hospital, my hands-on style has provided me with extraordinarily unique insights and capabilities into the incredible alchemy that occurs when these two industries merge well and appropriately.
This will be the most important business change in the industry since computer aided design and I believe I can be one of your most valuable assets.
Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to speaking with you.
Warmest Regards,
